Anyone have advice about publishing a doctoral dissertation as a book?

ya you should try to meet publishers at conferences. They are often "shopping" there.

how do you do that? Is it pretty easy to talk to the publishers? How do you know who is an academic publisher?

ya sometimes they have a table set up and you can just walk up. It might be better, though, to first contact the academic publiser them and ask if you can arrange a meeting to discuss publishing your dissertation as a book.

you will want to talk to your advisor or other professors however to get advice on ways you can make your dissertation publishable. you will have to make substantial revisions, undoubtedly.
