I am completely freak out  , I got the first time:
Verbal 300 (non- native speaker) Quantitative 530 The second time (a week ago) Verbal 330 Quantitative 630 I heate this test, everyone say it is really easy. Imagine I want to go to a Graduate school in Aerospace Engineering but with that scores I am pretty in hell!! I got 4.0 as GPA in my BS Physics Engineering. I was working like 3 years as research assistant here in Mexico, then I worked for P&G for 1.5 years and now I am a reasearch assistant again. I really want to go to USA to a Master in Aerospace. I have really good recommendation letters!!! But GRE scores are killing me. :!: :!: plus I applied to MIT, Purdue, Michigan U and Caltech :!: :!: Guys do you think I will have chances to get in the Master??? Thanks thanks thanks  |

Do you think that the schools will realize that you are not a native speaker? Will that help or hurt your chances?
Those are very difficult schools to get into. Are there other schools that might be easier that you can also apply to just in case you aren't accepted at one of the top schools? |

Yes, I think they will realize I am not a native speaker... maybe it will help but I have to compete with native speaker as well.
The issue here is that a Master in Aerospace Engineering (with research in Electronic Propulsion) is on the top Universities  I will take again the GRE on Dec 15... my last chance...any advise to get better scores in both sections??? THKS!

I can't imagine taking the GRE as a non-native speaker. Do you know if the schools take that into account in the application review process?

I am a portuguese native speaker and I am studying for the GRE. I am very nervous about. The math part of the test is not hard, but the English...oh! I just think I won't be able to get a good grade..it is almost not fair, we have to take the toefl already....

I really know what do you feel but do not get nervous about the test. Try to concentrate in the first 10 questions. Answer them the best you can. They have the highest value. Do not try to answer quickly. If you have time to prepare for the test, try to study some words that are most used at GRE. There are a plenty of free lists of words at the web.
Let me tell you that I was admitted in 3 Universities so I know you can do it too!! Do your best and a lot of success for you :!: |

I think you have a good chance of being admitted to the masters at michigan U, or purdue. They don't consider the verbal that much for non native speakers. I am a sri lankan and I know how hard it is to score well on the verbal section. with a 4.oo GPA for sure.......
so cheer up dude.....

I think if you are non-native English speaker they will take that into account. A lot of schools are looking less and less at GRE scores as indicators of success in grad school. I wouldn't worry too much about your verbal score, but you might want to see if you can "UP" your quant score a bit. My guess is that if there were no language barrier you could easily score over 700 in the quant section. Your GPA is terrific. Best of luck!
