preventing plagiarism? : grad student vs supervisor

I have just started to do research for my dissertation, studying literature. I know that my supervisor is working basically on the same topic as mine, which I thought would be a big advantage... but perhaps not! (He is actually working on a book really close to what I'm working on)
I found really interesting quotes from some authors about our common subject, that he used in a conference, without mentioning me, and the quotes I found are going to be published as if he founded them.

I have just started to confront him about that, but it did not go really far. I think it's a tricky situation.

Of course it is not really strict plagiarism: just quotes I have found for my research ; but I'm getting worried that it could go farther in the future.

What do you think of this situation ? Have you experienced similar situation ? Any suggestion about what I should do ?
