Default Repeated Courses

Is the original and repeated grade used in calculating your GPA for graduate school in engineering? Or would only the new grade be used? I know that at UCSD with the first 16 units repeated, the original would not be used to calculate the overall GPA, but i jus wanted to know how graduate schools for engineering would look at it.

Well I'm from UCSD too, but I hope grad schools would calculate it the same way! Are you wondering about applications that ask you to calculate your GPA a certain way? I had to repeat a class from my pre-med days and I calculated my GPA with the repeated grade.
