In the middle of my bachelor. What to do next?
Hi, guys! I am new here, but I am glad I found a place, I could get a qualified advice.
I want to get to a good masters program for Economics in the USA or Britain, preferably Ivy League or something comparable, like LSE or Chicago. Right now I am doing my bachelor in Economics and Mathematics (Math is my minor) at Mannheim university in Germany. I just have finished my 3rd semester and have to do 3 more (yes, you get bachelor in 3 years in Germany) and I would like an advice about what I must do right now to get better chances to be accepted later.
Mannheim is one of the top German colleges for Economics, but my grades for the first half tend to gravitate somewhere around B+ (I am not sure whether it is the right aquivalent, it is 2,0 in German system). I expect to improve them of course, but that is something I cannot be 100% sure. Partly it was caused by the fact that I am studying in German, my second foreign language after English (I am intl. student from Ukraine). I am nearly sterile in the matters of extracurriculars, sports or working experience, since I always worked hard to get to a good university.
How else can I utilize my time now (1,5 years) to improve my chances? Should I get into extracurriculars or start working? What would you guys do if you were in the middle of bachelor? I would like to get into research, maybe do something by myself, so that by the time of graduation I can get it published (to prove intellectual abilities, if grades fail to do so), but I have no clue whatsoever about how it goes.
Thanks in advance!
