Grad School or Work?
Hello everyone!
I graduated this May (2009) with a Computer Science degree and a Math minor. My college is only well known in the mid-west/Iowa area. I do not have a very good GPA 3.23 although I do not have a single C in my transcript -- everything is either B or A. I am an international student, so I am currently in my OPT. Right now, I am employed full time as a IT Specialist at a school district.
I feel like going to grad school but unfortunately, I am already a little bit late for many schools' deadlines. And I also rushed my GRE, so I only got 610V 740Q. Here is my dilemma:
If I want, I can get an extension to work another year at my current job. So, is it better if I work another year, give GRE again, get a better score, give GMAT as well (since I am applying for Management Information Systems, some require GRE some GMAT), and properly apply for grad school for Fall 2011? Would that be better as I would have almost 2 years of work experience + I have already done an engineering internship in San Francisco in my junior year. I could also save up some money in the extra year and pay off all of my debts.
Would 2 year's gap be bad as long as I am working in my own field? Or, do you suggest that I go to grad school right away?
Please help me decide.
Thanks!
