Hello,
I'm curious about my chances of getting into Columbia, NYU, and CUNY Graduate Center sociology Ph.D. programs. Has anyone applied to these schools? Did you get in? What were your scores, etc.? Further, is anyone currently in these programs or heard about them? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Undergrad: large decent non-Ivy, GPA 3.75 (Poli Sci/ Women's Studies double major), several awards and scholarships for academic work Law School: large decent non-Ivy, GPA 3.4, awards and scholarships for extra-curricular work Professional experience: 4 years practicing attorney, NY State, for a nonprofit Publications: Published academic article on relevant subject, 2005 GRE: 780V (99%), 750Q (84%), 4.5 on the essay I believe very good recommendation letters and SOP I *think* I will get into CUNY based upon my conversations with people there, but what about NYU and Columbia? Thanks!! |

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) provides decent and affordable housing in a safe and secure living environment for low and moderate- income residents throughout the five boroughs. To fulfill this mission, NYCHA must preserve its aging housing stock through timely maintenance and modernization of its developments. NYCHA also administers a citywide Section 8 Leased Housing Program in rental apartments. Simultaneously, we work to enhance the quality of life at NYCHA by offering our residents opportunities to participate in a multitude of community, educational and recreational programs, as well as job readiness and training initiatives.
