Default Seek advice

Hi guys. So this is my first posting here. I am a first year PhD student majoring in computational finance at a very good university (top 20 I guess). My first semester has just finished and very sadly that the results are a disaster. I got 2 Cs out of 3 classes. The other one was an A. I may want to discuss the reasons of my poor performance with you later. However, right now I am just wondering if this result can have bad influence on my next study stages. More specifically, I am self-funded now and without any funding from the department for the next year, I will not be able to survive. However, with a performance like this I don't know what kind of images that professors have towards me. And I am so worried that my funding chances would be nearly zero after receiving 2 Cs in my academic records. If anyone has any experience or knowledge about such situation, please help. I highly appreciate your advice. Thank you. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I agree with what margo is implying. It really depends on how hard grading is in your dept.
