A few semesters ago I worked for a Professor as his assistant but he turned out to be a real demanding, stuck up, wierdo. In fact I came very close to quitting the position and even told him but stuck it out. However, he apparently told another professor about this and now this other guy who liked me very much is less friendly. He is still nice to me and all but not like he used to be. Now i need a recommendation from him and I dont know if I should come clean and tell him my side of the story since its been a while...Ive had classes with both and they've both been polite enough. I know that profs value their relationship with each other more than with a student so i dont know if its a good idea to bring up my bad experience with the other professor. But i dont really know what he said bad about me and it really bothers me...
Can anyone give any advice please? |

What exactly did you tell the "stuck-up" professor?

Well, I asked if I could quit the position because it was too demanding...he used to make me do all kinds of errands and stuff not related to the original description at all. It was a lot of non-academic work and too much so it was affecting my studies..I however stuck it out cause he told me that he told the other prof he was dissapointed in me and how the system wont work if people start to quit and all which I thought was unfair but since he was putting a bad image of me to other people, I decided to just suffer for the term and finish the position.
Now I am at the point where I need to ask the Prof whom he told on about me for a recommendation. I dont know if I should clear things out with him about what the other prof told him about me. Maybe its just a good idea to leave it and not bring up things from the past. I'm a little confused as to what to do. I hope that's more clear and someone can give some advice what so ever! Thanks... |
